You might think that if your property has suffered from damp issues previously then having damp proof plaster is the best answer to stopping damp from occurring again in the future. Having damp proof plaster does not stop rising damp from causing damage to your property but it is an extra form of protection.
For example, if the damp problem occurred from a leak at the property then having damp proof plaster applied isn’t going to treat the problem on its own but fixing the leak will do this.
Damp Proof plaster should be used when you have been affected by rising damp and where it has been treated by having a damp proof course installed. We would recommend that if replastering needs to be carried out then you should always consider using a damp proof plaster.
